Pillowcases are the part of the bed you're in contact with for the longest stretch of the night — face, neck, hair — and they're typically the last thing people think carefully about. A rough pillowcase is a rough night. A pillowcase that gaps open and lets the pillow work its way out is a minor but real frustration that accumulates over time.
The Lad Collective pillowcases are designed to fix both of those problems.
Standard pillowcases use either an open envelope closure or visible buttons. Both leave the pillow partially exposed. The envelope closure gaps; the buttons can dig in, come undone, or catch on your hair.
Our JoeyPouch™ design uses a hidden zip closure that sits completely flush with the fabric — invisible from the outside, smooth against your face, and secure enough that the pillow stays inside regardless of how much movement happens through the night. The zip runs along the bottom hem rather than the side, keeping the front face of the pillowcase completely clean.
It's a small design decision with a noticeable daily impact — the kind of thing you don't realise you wanted until you have it.
Your face and neck are in contact with your pillowcase for the duration of every night's sleep. The fabric choice matters — both for comfort and, increasingly, for skin and hair health.
Our bamboo-cotton blend pillowcases are significantly softer than standard cotton at equivalent thread counts, naturally moisture-wicking, and hypoallergenic. The bamboo fibre structure is gentler on skin than cotton — less friction, less moisture absorption from the skin surface — which is why bamboo pillowcases are frequently recommended for people with sensitive skin, eczema, or those trying to minimise hair breakage from friction during sleep.
For anyone already investing in skincare or hair care, a bamboo pillowcase is a reasonable complement — it maintains moisture at the skin surface rather than absorbing it.
Skin sensitivity during sleep is more common than people realise — it's frequently misattributed to other causes when the issue is simply friction and moisture absorption from a standard cotton pillowcase.
Bamboo fibre is naturally hypoallergenic and produces significantly less friction than cotton. If you've been dealing with sleep creases, hair frizz, or skin that feels dry in the morning, a bamboo-cotton pillowcase is worth testing before attributing the issue to other causes.
Our standard pillowcases fit most standard and queen-size pillows (48cm x 73cm pillow). King pillowcases are also available for oversized pillows and European shams.
Pillowcases are sold in pairs. The fabric and colour are matched to the rest of our bedding range — if you're replacing individual pillowcases within an existing TLC set, they will match precisely.
One of the more common frustrations in bedding is mismatched pillowcases — slightly different white, slightly different weight, different sheen after six months of washing. Our pillowcases are cut from the same fabric as our sheet sets and quilt covers, so they match throughout the life of the product.
If you're buying pillowcases to complement an existing TLC fitted sheet or quilt cover, the colour and finish will be consistent.
Cold or warm wash (30–40°C), gentle cycle. The bamboo-cotton blend softens with washing — do not use fabric softener, which coats the fibre and reduces breathability. Tumble dry low or line dry. The zip closure should be fastened before washing to protect both the zip and your other bedding.
All pillowcases are included in our 90-night sleep trial. Free shipping across Australia and the United States.
Yes — bamboo fibre produces less friction than cotton and is less absorbent at the skin surface, which helps maintain skin hydration through the night. It's also naturally hypoallergenic, making it a good choice for sensitive skin or anyone prone to skin irritation.
Bamboo-cotton produces less friction than standard cotton, which reduces hair breakage and frizz from movement during sleep. They're not as low-friction as silk pillowcases, but they outperform cotton at a much more practical price point and wash considerably more easily.
The JoeyPouch™ is our hidden zip closure system — a zip that runs along the bottom hem of the pillowcase, completely concealed within the fabric. It keeps the pillow securely inside throughout the night, lies completely flat against the fabric, and has no visible hardware on the sleeping surface.
Yes — our standard pillowcases fit most standard and queen-size pillows. King pillowcases are available for oversized pillows. If you're unsure, check your pillow dimensions — the case should fit snugly without stretching the zip.
